Dry Eye

According to TFOS DEWS II, “Dry eye is a multifactorial disease of the ocular surface characterized by a loss of homeostasis of the tear film and a accompanied by ocular symptoms, in which tear film instability and hyperosmolarity, ocular surface inflammation and damage, and neurosensory abnormalities play Etiological roles”

Dry Eye Causes

  • There is not enough tears being produces.
  • There is abnormally high rate of evaporation of tears.

Dry Eye Risk Factors

  • Computer Vision Syndrome ( Excessive Use of Digital Screen )
  • Environmental conditions ( Polutions, Dust, Weather Change )
  • Refractive Surgery
  • Contact Lens Wear
  • Old Age
  • Nutritional Factors
